This blog was originally created as a donation page for my husband as he went thru his treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma. He was diagnosed in July of 2010 and died on March 18th of 2011. It was a horrific eight months and I miss him more than any words will ever be able to express.

donation information

Here are some organizations that would greatly benefit from donations in memory of Chris Hellberg:

  • Wonders & Worries: This is a non-profit organization in Austin Texas that helps children cope when a parent faces a serious or life-threatening illness.  Our 3 year-old son saw a wonderful counselor, Ali, thru this organization who helped him immensely.  Donations can be made in memory of Chris Hellberg if you follow this link: http://www.wondersandworries.org/donate.html
  • Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care: This organization runs a grief support group called Solace House, where my son and I get services.  Click here for more information about Solace House.  Here is a link to donate: https://www.kansascityhospice.org/Donate-DonateOverview/Index.htm
  • Livestrong: The support we received from their Cancer Navigation Center in Austin was crucial.  Here is a link to donate: http://www.livestrong.org/Donate
  • Aishel House: a non-profit organization that provides housing, transportation, meals, counseling, and child-care assistance to those that are getting treatment at one of the many medical facilities in the Texas Medical Center in Houston Texas, regardless of race, color, or creed.  I stayed in one of their charity apartments our last 2 weeks in Houston.  Words can't express how much it meant to have a "normal" place to stay that was in a neighborhood and within walking distance of MD Anderson.  Here is a link to donate on their website: https://aishelhouseorg.clhosting.org/templates/articlecco_cdo/aid/540797/jewish/Donate/lang/en
